The first of these characters that I would like to remember here is Len Big Six. Len was a personal friend for many years. We enjoyed D X trips to the Clent Hills near Halesowen West Midlands in the early days of C B Radio. Len was a very intelligent person with a good job as an ambulance controller. however Len never suffered fools gladly. He used C B with care and never missed an opportunity to promote it's value as a means of communication. Len became Vice president of a C B Radio club I was involved with and in those times the club undertook many projects for charity it was well run and gained success and notoriety throughout the country. Len sadly passed away at Christmas time a couple of years ago. He will be missed by lots of the friends that he made over the years and those people that he helped at one time or another. |

Sam the Cod Catcher had his own fishing boat and enjoyed regular trips to the sea side to fish for cod and other fish. He promoted the RNLI and as a last request asked that any funds collected go to this charity. Sam was always happy he never had a miss word for anyone on the C B. He had a very good sense of humour .Living in a very high location which he called the top of the world, he was able to talk to most parts of the UK. Sam only used legal frequencies and power but when out DX ing no matter where we nearly always had that well known voice boom across the air ways saying 'Be happy and stay lucky'. Sam passed away a few years ago now as the result of a tragic accident whilst tarmacing a section of road in the West Midlands. Sams death will always be a great loss to all those dedicated C B'ers who will miss his happy care free manner. |

Dave Tartan Terror who was originally form a small town in Scotland made the Black Country his home many years ago. Dave again spend many years on the C B radio and as a result he made many friends. Dave was always happy to talk and was a valued friend of mine. He cared about people and this was apparent from his manner. Dave passed away a couple of years ago as the result of a stroke. This was another loss to local C B Radio and one that again was very difficult for many radio users to accept. I attended Dave's funeral and remember his send off with a Scottish piper a very haunting moment for myself and many others that attended. Debbie Lily Ma Lane also passed away a couple of years ago.Knowing the black country well, and she will be missed by the many truckers which she spent hours helping to their destinations via channel 19. |

There are a number of other well known radio users who we have also lost in the Black Country and West Midlands are in recent times. All these breakers are missed and are a loss to CB. Wherever these breakers have gone to I wish them many happy hours of CB'ing in the next life. The caring radio club based in the Black Country Central England |
